Hypnotism

When I was at school I once got a book about hypnotism from the library and, to my, and everyone else's, amazement, succeeded in hypnotising someone.

When I was at Leeds University (reading Philosophy and Physics) I had friends reading Philosophy and Psychology who were interested in ESP experiments. When they wanted to work with hypnotised subjects, and the only hypnotist in the Department was too busy to participate but offered to take enough time to teach someone else to do it, I found myself volunteered on the basis of my previous experience (!)

In fact I found that I had some ability and became quite a good hypnotist. The experiments were inconclusive but I have retained an interest in hypnotism over the years and read new works and papers on the subject from time to time. I am not a trained therapist but occasionally help friends with minor problems such as smoking, dieting, relaxing and fear of flying. The commonest reason people ask me to hypnotise them, though, is curiosity.

I also lecture on "The History and Practice of Hypnotism" to Rotarians, Rotract, Townswomen's Guilds, Scouts & Guides, Schools & Colleges, and similar organisations within reasonably easy reach of the New Forest (England) where I live. Even on my travels I am occasionally asked to lecture on silicon chips to electrical engineers during the day and on hypnotism to some other organisation in the evening.

If you wish me to hypnotise you or to invite me to give a lecture please email me at trance(a)jbryant.eu. I normally negotiate fees for individual hypnotism and charge £100 plus travel expenses for lectures, but will reduce or waive this fee in deserving cases.
